Linux : Fonts

Because a lot of websites (including mine) assume the availability of the standard Windows fonts (i.e. Verdana) on the client I want to add those to my Fedora install.

First you have to install the FreeType Bytecode Interpreter (BCI), because it is not in the default Fedora distro. It can be found here: http://avi.alkalay.net/software/freetype.bci/FC6/

The whole pack of fonts is available as an rpm: http://www.alkalay.net/software/webcore-fonts/webcore-fonts-1.3-1.noarch.rpm

I solved my problem by installing the freetype2 RPM (http://avi.alkalay.net/software/fre....1.bci.i386.rpm) with BCI and then setting the Font Rendering to "Monochrome", Smoothing to "None" and Hinting to "Full". I also installed m$ fonts from http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/f....3-4.noarch.rpm and then set all fonts to Tahoma.
